RF-1600 Radio

Description

The Panasonic RF-1600 receives the AM, FM, marine band (1.6-4.5 MHz) shortwave 5.9-18 MHz, VHF air (108-138 MHz) and VHF high band 136-174 MHz.

This radio features a turret type analog tuning dial, fine tuning plus separate Bass and Treble slide controls. The right side of the radio has a squelch control and an AFC switch. There is world time chart-calculator on the rear panel.The rear panel features Phono input jack and a Phono/Radio input switch. Plus there is a MPX output jack and an earphone jack. It operates from 120 VAC or from four D cell batterys (6v). It has a Dial Lamp and Dial Lamp Switch loacted on the top of the unit.

When new in 1969, this little portable receiver was $125.00. In 2019 that would be the the equivalent of ~$866.00 on a little portable radio!

For a small portable transistor radio from the late 1960's these small radios have a phenominal sound which rivals or bests anything today being produced in thir current price range. The extereior is all brushed aluminum - not painted plastic. The only large amounts of plastic on this radio is on the back panel, the bottom, and the battery holder.
